CryptoQuant CEO Criticizes X Platform for Bot Spam and Crypto Content Suppression
CryptoQuant founder Ki Young Ju has launched a scathing critique of X, formerly Twitter, accusing the platform of failing to curb an explosion of AI-generated bot spam while simultaneously suppressing legitimate cryptocurrency discussions. The company's Radar tool detected 7.75 million crypto-related posts on January 9, 2026—a staggering 1,224% increase from normal activity levels.
Ju argues that X's algorithms now treat all crypto content as suspicious by default. "It is absurd that X WOULD rather ban crypto than improve its bot detection," he stated. The executive contends that while AI-powered bots are inevitable, the platform's inability to distinguish between automated accounts and genuine users remains the core issue.
The paid verification system has compounded the problem, according to Ju. Designed to filter spam, it instead enables bots to "pay to spam" while authentic creators face dramatically reduced reach. This flood of low-quality content has triggered algorithmic crackdowns that indiscriminately impact the crypto community.
